Email spam test : FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
To run an email spam test, you simply have to :
1. Copy the code given by MailReach in your email (to help MailReach find your email).
2. Copy the list of inboxes given by MailReach and send your email to this list. (doing an email spam test by sending to a list of several inboxes is much more reliable than to a single one).
3. Click on Get your score to find out your result. You’ll discover your spam score, where your email landed on 20+ different mailboxes and recommendations to improve your score.
Important :
If you want to measure the deliverability of your current email campaigns, you need to run the email spam test in the exact same conditions as if you were sending an email to one of your recipients. That means doing the email spam test using your campaign sending tool, using the same email content.
With the email spam test results, there are many things you can do.
First, you can share the email spam test report to anyone that might be interested to see it.
It can be useful if you can’t make the changes recommended by MailReach and you need someone to do it for you.
Depending on the results you get from the email spam test, several scenarios can happen :
Best scenario : the email spam test gives you a 10/10 which means a perfect deliverability. That’s great. Make sure you have all the green lights in the “Checks” and “Setup” sections.
Second scenario : You have a lower score but all the lights are green. In that case, it can be a sending reputation problem AND/OR spam words that can’t be detected by MailReach AND/OR you sending tool (sending IP, tracking domain, etc.)
What you can do is running a new email spam test with a normal / casual email inviting someone for a call (two sentences max), without using any sending tool, to see if you get a better score.
Third scenario : the email spam test gives a lower score and MailReach gives you things you can improve. In that case, make the changes and run the email spam test again until you see improvements.
Having 10/10 on our email spam test means having a perfect deliverability with the email and setup you’ve tested.
First, you need to know that in some cases, you just can’t hit an email spam test score of 10/10 because of the type of emails you send.
It does not mean you can’t have a perfect deliverability towards the inboxes you target with your email campaigns.
Today, you can land 100% in the inbox on professional inboxes (Office 365, Google Workspace) and at the same time land in spam on personal inboxes such as Outlook.com, Gmail.com, Hotmail.com.
Why? Because they don’t filter spam the same way AND the big providers can mark as spam the fact you send business emails to a private inbox which is not supposed to happen.
In all cases, if you have an email spam test score below 10/10, the best things you can do to improve your score are:
- Make changes to your email and/or sending setup until the email spam test gives you a higher score.
- Raise your sending reputation with email warming if needed until you get a better email spam test score.
There is always a way to follow the recommendations of our email spam test.
If you can’t follow them directly, you can share the email spam test report to someone in your team or company who has the ability to make the changes recommended by MailReach.
In all cases, if you don’t follow the recommendations of the email spam test, it gives you a reliable way of measuring your deliverability, and this is important to know precisely where you stand.
Sending emails from different countries doesn’t mean you need to do several email spam tests.
Doing an email spam test several times is very useful to iterate and try to improve your spam score. But it’s not related to sending emails from different countries.
An email spam test should be done each time you change your email content (wording, links, images) and/or way of sending your emails (campaign sending tool, tracking domain, sending IP, domain, email address, etc).
